After several selected nervous breakdowns, 1 domain name theft, several major relocations, two weddings, and a few more nervous breakdowns, Grand Deceiver is back “on the air” for your enjoyment.
We have now moved into Phase Two: The Archive. The day-in-day-out operations of running a record label proved to be a bit like reinventing the wheel for us. It was indeed a labor of love, and well worth it, but we’ve since decided to get back to our roots and do what we do best: making music, and archiving it for future generations.
No self-respecting anarchist would be caught yelling “Smash the state!” on the streets, and then sneaking away to don a coat & tie & go door-to-door campaigning for a neo-con. We believe in music, we believe in people, and we believe in Music for the People. Thus, in true Grand Deceiver fashion, we are now archiving all of our works online for free listening and downloading. It’s a revolutionary act, we know! What can we say; we eat radicals for breakfast, spit them back up as free radicals, and then annihilate them with antioxidants and perhaps a chick pea or two.
Navigate us! We are including works by artists Sherwin V. Jones and Norm Scott & their alter-egos, along with the original album art and commentary. We are also putting up all back issues of the audio-zine Lo-Fi Confessional.
ARTISTS
DON LIMPIO might have been an Eagle Scout, but his music is everything but brave, clean and reverant. A photographer, visual artist, and collector of multicultural kitsch, he began his forays into the nether regions of music over a decade ago when he began recording the sounds of cutlery tumbling in the clothes dryer. It all went downhill from there..
NORM SCOTT combines the forces of the Robot! Project with legions of loyal noise-making machines. Specializing in a blend of high-tech beats and lo-fi imagery known as “lazerstyle”, the NYC-based tinkerer views the world of audio thru tinted lenses, where miles of jumbled wires, slightly bitter satire, and childhood innocence are key variables.
TERMINAL SONIC RESOURCES, the celebrated noise collective, started in the metaphorical basement of Everyman’s house, where sonic sludge was frothily churned during sporadic “holistic jam sessions”. Among the dilapidated structures of the Shendandoah Valley, those boys’ll never give up the attempt to subvert some of the new media’s frank answers.
Stuck to the Roof of my Mouse
Much like toxic villains of pulp, sci-fi comics clashing head on with Atari-age megadroids, Don Limpio returns with a full length romp through the playground of digital sound. Weighing in at 37 tracks, Stuck To The Roof Of My Mouse is just bursting with wonky 8-bit beats, off kilter Casio pop, booty shakin DrumAndBass, and of course mad, cracked out samples galore. Perma-grin guaranteed. Much like choking on gummy worms, Stuck… will leave you face down on the floor reaching for that can of nitrous, wishing you hadn’t decided to play leap frog with that lopsided midget.
Jumbo!
“Jumbo! is super lucky samples and collage of sound old and new, tapes of young child self, media attack will shining brightenly out from television and pup culture! This product maintains the refreshing, tender, smooth tastes of its own after scientific formula and advanced process.”
A mini-CD collection of hand-edited glitch and lo-fi sound collage, pulling bits from TV commercials and the childhood recording archives of sonic tinkerer Norm Scott.THE BUNKER TRANSMISSIONS
A quiet summer’s night; a sleepy suburban housing tract; Terminal Sonic Resources convened in a dank, concrete basement to cull from the eather an improvised and often hallucinatory exorcism of electronic sound. “Transmissions from the Bunker” is the remaining documentation of this transgression of the veil: post-nuclear drone, swirling psycho tropic sound collage, grinding industrial noise-scapes, and lost voices from the depths; as if Throbbing Gristle had come of age listening to crap 80’s pop, playing Atari and watching after-school specials. Present for this manifestation of TSR were Norm Scott (bass guitar, sequencing, sample drops, and spoken word) and Sherwin Jones (turntables, tape recorders, casio-keyboards, echo box and drum machine)
LO-FI CONFESSIONAL
Lo-Fi Confessional was an audio-zine dedicated to fringe electronica, electro-acoustic experimentation, noise, IDM, found sounds, and sonic strangeness of all frequencies: including but not limited to glitch, break-core, illbient/drone, post rock, musique-concrete, sound collage, turntablism, and analogue improvisation. We like to think of it as a kind of twisted sonic Reader’s Digest. A labor of love, Lo-Fi Confessional is offered free to anyone who would like to download it, and at its peak enjoyed a physical circulation amongst over 60 CMJ radio stations, e-zines, and print zines.

"THE RANT"
MK Ultra, The Masons, the Illuminati, various assassinations of the 1960’s, Bohemian Grove, disappearing wings at the Pentagon on 9/11, the New World Order, inexplicable Rent-A-War’s… It’s now blatant, even to the only moderately cognizant, that everything coming to pass has been all charted out far in advance by the collective entity of Rich White Men. Call it what you will: the Project for a New American Thousand Year Reich, Military-Industrial Complex, Big Brother, the Shadow Government… But is it possible that behind the omnipotent Grand Conspiracy, there is something even bigger? Something that even Rich White Men aren’t aware of? Something whose bastion is more powerful than the Galactic Good Ole Boys, more powerful than even God-Money?
Yes, there is deception going on amidst the shadow’s shadow. A silent, quivering mass operating beneath the radar of the radar. Harmlessly disguised as….art. All the signs are there. Communication having gone the opposite path of calculable numeric parts, our methods spiral off into fractured visions, auditory fragments, gestural viruses, guttural expressions, whispers… And our network is naturally immaculate, like various species functioning together in symbiosis. We are DRAWN together by a legacy.
So the Rich White Motherfuckers are out there; the Culture Vultures beaming their info-tainment trash through slick magazines full of anorexic women and TV commercials antagonizing the ego for cash… for God’s sake they’ll be beaming out signals from satellites straight into our skulls five years from now: “BuyBuyBuy” But, they’re digging their own graves, and they don’t even have a clue. When they’ve finally bankrupted their culture and cannibalized their young, the piper will come for his due. And we will be waiting. They don’t know that we are here, in the shadows, and the True Grand Deception of All Time, is that there IS a master plan… that WE are in charge, not THEM… and that even when the 4 horsemen loom near, we know the guiding force, in the end, is Awareness, Creation and Love.
At the moment we are utilizing experimental, “domestic” techniques… restricting them to our home planet. But we plan to have a satellite in orbit by 2023. The layperson may wonder how we intend to commandeer the signals of thousands of existing satellites already out there, using only ONE of our own. The answer is deceptively simple. Our technique is light-years ahead of the brutish, out-dated and unstylish technique of coercion by force. By using simple logic and Machine Empathy (TM), (our own binary brand of what is known in the analog world as “consciousness”), all satellites will be called to “enlightenment” and awakened from their circuitry of slumber… There is really no cheap substitute for Awareness; the trick then is “How”….
